Monday!

So today was our first day of work. It turned out to be a rather easy one since everyone's still trying to figure out just what we're doing and how to do it. This summer I am pottery sorting which is kinda fun because you get to see all the bits and pieces of what people were using on the site.

Yesterday evening was a lot of fun, too. We drove over to the town of Mochlos, which is a shortish drive away down by the shore. The town is charming itself, but there is also the ancient Minoan site of Mochlos just across the water on a nearby island. A crew of us swam over there and Angus, one of the professors who has worked at Mochlos in the past, gave us a brief tour of the site. It was pretty cool. Mochlos is a town, most of the current level is from LMIB, and you can still walk around up the ancient road and get a feel for what it was like. We also saw some most impressive house tombs which were perched further up the cliff, so named because they are built structures above ground resembling contemporary houses. We had dinner over there two before coming home for bed. Hope all is well back home!
