Reading Week Adventures

So I scurried off at the end of reading week for sister visit time. I went to visit Jenn in Dublin, just while Liss came to visit too. Which was great fun, especially as I hadn't seen Jenn since August! Practically a forever ago. It was a nice short flight and it was quite pretty above the clouds, even if it was cloudy below them on both ends.

This made for a fantastic golden afternoon to land in.

As we've already explored lots of Dublin, most of our time was spent wandering around and hanging out. Grafton Street is already decked with lights for Christmas (though they don't turn them on at night yet).

And so is the inside of the shopping center.

Along the walk our to Jenn's is this pretty little canal, all draped with willowy trees.

Proof! Liss made it too!

This church is also somewhere near Jenn's. It's got a lovely green copper dome on it, too, but you can only really see it from further up or down the street.

I thought this an adorable electrical box.

Another pretty chruch!

One of the places we stopped in had a nice stained glass window up on the wall.

Where we hung out with Reo, a friend of Liss and Jenn's.

They had some awesome glasses, too.

Another place had some interesting art scattered throughout the place, which was all well done.

The street was full of it, too!

More lights (ones that were on at that)!

One last wander around the park before Jenn had to go to class and I had to entertain myself until my flight in the evening.

There was some interesting statuary in Stephen's Green.

And then I stopped in to see Sir Oscar Wilde.

I had thought to take a look around the museums, but most of them were closed, as it was a Monday. But the National Gallery was open!

It was a bit limited because one of the halls was being redesigned that week. After a lovely afternoon hanging out with Paula at Fitz's it was off to London. There's a nifty, giant twisty piece of art outside the arrivals hall.

Later I ended up on Oxford Street, where London's got all it's Christmas lights up.

The bigger stores have themselves all wrapped up in lights, at that.

I caught sight of this shiny gold chariot... for when you really need to go somewhere in style.

Lights!

Of all sorts!

Everywhere! It's quite fun just to have a wander past all them.

More fun Soho art, of a less glittery sort!

That should about catch me up! Hope all is well for everyone!
